Pipelines & Transmission Mains

Overview

What we deliver

We have installed more than 140 miles of pressure pipe, from 12-inch distribution mains to 96-inch transmission lines. Our pipeline crews work in the places that make pipe difficult: dense urban streets, steep slopes, wetlands, railroad and highway crossings, and rivers.

Open-cut construction

Most of our work is open-cut installation of ductile iron (DIP), welded steel, PCCP and fusion-welded HDPE. Our crews place bedding to AWWA C600 and C603, assemble restrained joints and thrust restraint, perform welding and coating repair and complete hydrostatic testing before backfill is final. Trench safety is managed by competent persons on every crew, with shoring designed by engineers for deep or unstable trenches.

Trenchless and crossings

We use horizontal directional drilling (HDD), jack-and-bore, microtunneling and pipe ramming to cross highways, railroads, streams and sensitive habitat. A pit-and-shaft design is prepared with a geotechnical engineer and reviewed with the owner and permitting agency, including fluid management for HDD operations.

For long mains we manage utility conflicts proactively. Our in-house surveyors verify alignments, potholing is completed ahead of the pipe crews, and tie-ins to live mains are planned in coordination with the utility's operations staff to keep customers in service.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

01 What pipe sizes and materials do you install?
Typical work runs from 12 to 96 inches in ductile iron, welded steel, PCCP and HDPE. We hold manufacturer certifications for fusion welding and mechanical joint assembly.
02 How do you work in dense urban corridors?
We use short work zones, daily restoration, steel plates for road access and communication plans for businesses and residents. Utility locating and potholing are completed well ahead of the pipe crews.
03 Can you tie into live mains without outages?
When system conditions allow, we use hot taps and line stops. Otherwise we plan short shutdowns in low-demand periods, with notification and temporary supply for critical customers.
04 Do you comply with Buy America and AIS?
Yes. We track domestic-content certifications on every pipe, fitting, valve and fastener, and we maintain a documented procedure for substitutions to ensure funding is not jeopardized.
