Our approach
Planned, not policed
Our safety program is built on three habits. Crews complete a written pre-task plan before every shift, walking the area and identifying hazards before the work starts. Every employee has stop-work authority, and we do not ask permission to use it. And every critical lift, excavation and confined-space entry is reviewed by a qualified person before it happens.
The Director of Safety reports directly to the COO and has the authority to stop any project. Field superintendents are evaluated on safety performance alongside production and cost, and their bonuses reflect it.
Programs
Programs that work on site
Each program has a written plan, a named owner and an annual audit.
-
01
Pre-task planning
A crew-written hazard analysis completed and signed before every shift, with a physical walk-around of the work area.
-
02
Critical lift review
Crane picks over 75 percent of capacity, over traffic or near energized lines require an engineered lift plan and a signed review.
-
03
Excavation and trench safety
Competent persons on every crew, daily inspections and engineered shoring for any trench over 15 feet deep.
-
04
Confined space and H2S
Permit-required entry procedures, continuous gas monitoring and a rescue plan for every wet well, digester and tank.
-
05
Work zone and traffic safety
ATSSA-certified traffic control supervisors, buffer vehicles and intrusion alarms on every highway project.
-
06
Training and onboarding
OSHA 10 for all field staff, OSHA 30 for supervisors and a three-day orientation for new hires.
