Our DBE outreach and good-faith commitment
Halvorsen Pike is committed to equal opportunity in subcontracting and supply. On federally and state-funded projects, we meet the DBE goals set by the owner through a documented good-faith effort, and we apply the same practices to private and local-agency projects without goals.
What we do on every project
- Advertise bid opportunities on this page and in minority and women-owned business publications at least 14 days before bids are due
- Send written invitations to certified DBE firms in the relevant trades through state certification directories
- Unbundle large scopes into smaller packages where it is economically feasible
- Provide plans, specifications and quantity information at no charge and offer help with bonding, insurance and scheduling
- Hold pre-bid meetings and hours for questions with estimators
- Negotiate in good faith, and never reject a DBE quote without documented reasons
Our DBE liaison officer is available to discuss certification, prequalification and the contract process. After award, we monitor participation monthly and report to the owner.
