Project engineers are the connective tissue of a heavy civil job. You will work for a project manager and a superintendent on a project from mobilization to closeout, and you will have more responsibility in your first year than at most firms in your fifth.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, track and log submittals, RFIs and change-order requests
  • Develop quantities, cost reports and monthly pay applications
  • Maintain the three-week look-ahead schedule with the superintendent
  • Coordinate with inspectors, designers and utilities
  • Support quality control, including test results and as-built documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or a related field
  • 0 to 4 years of experience in heavy civil, utility or bridge construction (internships count)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 is helpful
  • EIT certification preferred; OSHA 30 required within 90 days

What we offer

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage, with the company paying 90 percent of the premium for employees and families
  • 401(k) with a 5 percent company match and employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) allocation
  • Three weeks of paid time off in the first year, plus 10 paid holidays
  • Paid training, certification and tuition support
